Lauren Kate was raised in Dallas, Texas and went to school in Atlanta. She has said that her time in the "Old South" of Atlanta inspired her setting for the book Fallen. She got her masters degree in fiction from the University of California and is the bestselling author of The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove and the Fallen series.
